Biografia

Cristian Calì is a singer-songwriter from Mascali, in the province of Catania (Sicily), born in 2008. He has been writing songs since he was fourteen, and he always starts from the same place: guitar and voice, often late at night, when what he feels needs to turn into words.

In the summer of 2026 he took part in the Rey Summer Festival: on 16 August, on the stage of the 5th edition final in piazza Vagliasindi in Torre Archirafi, he chose to face the jury and the audience not with a cover, but with an original song of his own, "Cosa resta". Ten days later that track was released on every platform, produced by Seby Rey.

"Cosa resta", the debut single

"Cosa resta" ("What Remains") was born in the middle of a July night, at three in the morning, right after a relationship ended: Cristian picked up his guitar and wrote the lyrics in about twenty minutes. The title came a couple of days later, from a question left unanswered — "what really remains of the love two people say they felt, when for one of them it never existed?" — and it became a statement rather than a question.

In the studio the song turned into a pop indie ballad with a rapped verse and a rock solo, a deliberate mix of genres meant to convey "the dynamism of the emotions" running through him as he wrote. Inside the chorus he hid a metric cage, a secret code built around the person the song was dedicated to. "Cosa resta" was released on 26 August 2026 on all digital platforms.

Cristian is now working on new material: ideas, songs written over the years and a new track still in its early stages. Asked to describe "Cosa resta" in three words, he answered with the hour when it all began: "always at three". His full interview is on the Rey Production Magazine.
